Alleghany Highlands Public Schools to be closed Monday, Jan. 12

LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, for a teacher workday and professional development.

The closure is part of the 2025-26 academic calendar and provides time for teachers and staff to review first-semester progress and participate in professional learning to support student achievement.

Students will return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Report cards for the second nine weeks, which conclude the first semester, will be issued on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
