ROANOKE, Va. – Holiday magic arrived early at Carilion Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 10, as local first responders teamed up to bring a festive Santa visit to pediatric patients spending the season in the hospital.

Roanoke Fire-EMS, the Roanoke Police Department and the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Department helped escort Santa to the hospital for a memorable arrival, with Santa and his elves rappelling down the exterior of the building and waving to young patients watching from their windows.

Following the grand entrance, Santa and his first-responder partners made their way through the unit, greeting patients, visiting families and spreading cheer throughout the hospital. The annual visit offered a welcome moment of joy and distraction for children receiving care, while also highlighting the community support surrounding Carilion’s youngest patients during the holiday season.
