ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. (VR) – It will soon be time for all of the Ghouls and Goblins to be out and about seeking that precious bucket or bag full of CANDY. The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office has a few safety tips for anyone who is going out to celebrate.
1. Always wear a costume that makes it easy for you to see.
2. Always be visible. Wear bright costumes or have glowsticks or flashlights.
3. Never eat candy prior to returning home. Have an adult inspect your stash.
4. If you are an adult and plan to attend a party, please do not drink and drive. Always have a Designated Driver
5. Drive slow and be alert while driving in areas that Trick or Treaters are present.
6. If you plan to stay home and hand out candy, please make sure your pets are under control.
All local law enforcement will be patrolling and will be on the lookout for careless drivers. We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween.
