Washington, D.C. (VR) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced Beth Walker Green has been appointed by President Donald Trump to serve as the USDA Rural Development State Director for the state of Virginia. Director Green will implement President Trump’s America First agenda at USDA Rural Development, ensuring the needs of America’s farmers, ranchers, and producers remain a top priority.
“When America’s farming communities prosper, the entire nation thrives. This new group of USDA appointees will ensure President Trump’s America First agenda is a reality in rural areas across the country. I am grateful for the leadership of these new state directors and look forward to their work reorienting the agency to put Farmers First again,” said Secretary Rollins.
“I am honored to serve Virginia’s rural communities and take President Trump and Secretary Rollins’ priorities and implement them locally, empowering communities from the ground up,” said Green. “Our mission is simple but critical: to strengthen the backbone of America by investing in rural communities. Team Virginia will work to advance economic development, support rural infrastructure, promote agricultural and environmental sustainability, and enhance housing options to build strong and more resilient communities across the Commonwealth. Together we will invest in the fabric of our rural communities, providing funding that improves critical infrastructure like healthcare, schools and first responders, making rural Virginia the best place to live, work and raise a family.”

She previously held this role from 2017 to 2021 and also served as Acting Rural Housing Administrator during that time.
