CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (VR) – The Lady Cougars put together a steady effort but came up short in a straight-set match on Tuesday night, falling 25–23 and 25–20 at Christiansburg.
The opening set was close early before Christiansburg used a service run to stretch the lead to a 25–23 win. The second set stayed tight, with the Cougars rallying behind a balanced front-row attack, but Christiansburg once again created separation late and secured the match 25–20.
Despite the loss, Covington showed fight in extended rallies and strung together runs in the second set that kept the pressure on before Christiansburg closed it out.
