Jennifer Ada Olewine
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jennifer Ada Olewine. After a fierce battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her closest family and friends. Her body gave out on her, but her heart and mind stood unwavering.
Born in North Carolina on May 11th, 1980, to the parents of Mark and Debra Tuttle. She enjoyed her childhood with her siblings Clarence and Corene. Over the years she loved reminiscing and swapping stories of her fond childhood memories.
In 2005 she met Matthew Olewine, their love-story being one for the books. On August 22nd, 2009, Jennifer and Matthew married. They settled down in Harrisburg, North Carolina and began building their modern family; raising three wonderful children – Isaac, Lauren and Amelia. She had a passion for taking care of others, leading to a career path in nursing. While raising a family, Jennifer worked tirelessly to obtain both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In 2019, Jennifer took a job at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, specializing in Sleep Medicine. While she was passionate about her work, spending time and taking care of her children was where she truly flourished.
Spending time with them was her favorite thing in the world. The kids enjoyed doing the most mundane things with her, whether that was grocery store trips, couch lounging or watching their favorite TV shows accompanied by so many sweet treats. Quoting lines from episodes they’d seen a million times before; they would all laugh until tears welled up and their bellies were sore. According to her children, “she made the most ordinary
things so special”.
Jennifer loved crafting and spending time in her garden; she thrived when indulging in her creative side. All her best stories came from the times she spent with her family.
She wanted to be around them constantly, eating good food and listening to music almost always on the agenda. She loved to entertain and doted on every single person who entered her home; making sure they always felt welcome, comfortable, and loved.
In her worst times her warm personality never changed. While fighting a painful battle, she chose to continue to be kind to every person who crossed her path; always complimenting and thanking them for the impact they had on her life. We will miss her greatly, but her loving and kindhearted spirit has left the family grateful for each moment we had with her. “We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it; we will see how our experience can benefit others”.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11AM at the Rockbridge Baths Volunteer Fire Department. This will be a casual event, and we hope family and friends can join and share some time celebrating a wonderful light to the world.
