Fred Calvin Johnson
Fred Calvin Johnson, age 83, of 208 Meadowdale Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at his residence.
Fred was born on July 23, 1942 in Iron Gate, Virginia to the late Henry Elisha Johnson and Lula Grinder Terry Johnson. He was a retired stock clerk for the former H. O. Canfield of Iron Gate, and a member of Living Stones Ministries. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and watching football. Most of all, he loved his family and the Lord.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray Elvin Johnson, Charles Johnson, Elwood Johnson, Henry Johnson, Jr., and Michael Johnson, and two sisters, Lucille Bryant and Brenda Hoke.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mable Lucille Clarkson Johnson of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Angela Blankenship (Michael) of Chesterfield; three sisters, Nancy Swoope of Clifton Forge, Irma Brown (Barry) of Clifton Forge, and Dorothy Bryant of Rockbridge County; a brother, Ralph Johnson (Mary) of Iron Gate; four sisters-in-law, Thelma Clarkson of Gap Mills, WV, Katherine Blankenship of Gap Mills, WV, Nancy Blankenship (Clarke) of Chesterfield, and Wanda Clarkson (Orville) of Prince George; five grandchildren, Hunter Lee Blankenship (Nicole), Mikayla Skinner (Corey), Mackenzie Blankenship, Makenna Blankenship, and Hayden Blankenship; a great grandchild, Berklee Blankenship; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Mike Rollins and Pastor Matt O’Meara officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Hunter Blankenship, Corey Skinner, Jackson Martel, Jerry Johnson, Barry Brown, Larry Hayslett, Jesse Smith, and Jason Brown. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
