Peggie Marie Chambers Green
Peggie Marie Chambers Green, a devoted servant of the Lord, gained her heavenly reward on September 4, 2025. She was born February 25, 1943 to the late Polk and Bertha Chambers in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Chambers of New York and a sister, Barbara Hodge of Maryland.
Peggie was educated in the Watson High School of Covington, Virginia and Virginia State College (now University). After her retirement from the United States Government (Bureau of Vital Statistics, Washington D.C.), Peggie was licensed as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and worked for many years in the Washington D.C. and Maryland areas.
Peggie often spoke of how grateful she was for her life with her family and considered her role as a mother and grandmother, one of her greatest honors.
Peggie is lovingly remembered by her son, Dewayne Green and granddaughter, Keisha Green of Laurel, Maryland; siblings, Clarence Chambers of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Carmen Chambers-Nash of Richmond, Virginia, Robert Chambers of San Antonio, Texas, Darnell of Indianapolis, Indiana; a devoted nephew, Derek Hodge of Greensboro, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend David Halsey officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends attending the service. The family will visit with friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
