LEWISBURG, W.Va. (VR) – Late last week, Flanagan’s Barber Shop owner Troy White received a customer visit from Johnny Davis. Davis played for the San Francisco 49ers and was a member of their 1981 Super Bowl Winning squad.
Davis and his wife own a home at Glade Springs and were in town staying at the Greenbrier. His wife wanted to hit up Lewisburg and go to some shops downtown, but according to White, Davis did not want to go shopping with the wife when they traveled over, so he stumbled upon Flanagan’s Barbershop for a head shave.
Davis, who played collegiately at Alabama for Bear Bryant who called Davis the best fullback he has ever coached, is the third sports “celebrity-type” White has worked on. Keegan Bradley (pro golfer) and Mike D’Antoni (head NBA coach of Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks) have also been customers in the past.
About this current experience, White said:
“Shaving the head of a Super Bowl champion is a unique experience. He (Davis) is a genuinely nice guy with a fantastic personality.”
