ROANOKE, Va. (VR) – In the heart of southwest Virginia, a financial advisor team at Janney Montgomery Scott is redefining wealth management through a unique blend of multi-generational experience and community-focused service. Haden Dudley III, a 46-year veteran of the financial services industry, and his partner Clark LeMaster are bringing a personalized approach to financial planning that goes beyond traditional investment strategies.

Dudley, 74, who has no plans of retiring, brings decades of experience from firms like J.C. Bradford & Co. to Janney, the second oldest investment firm in the United States, with roots tracing to 1832. “We’re not about being the biggest firm in the country, but being one of the best,” Dudley explained. The firm’s approach centers on what he calls an “ownership manual” for clients’ financial lives, treating investment not just as a transaction, but as a comprehensive family strategy. Their practice focuses on individual and family wealth management, with a unique commitment to serving clients across generations.

Dudley highlighted a remarkable achievement, a client relationship that now spans five generations.

LeMaster, who transitioned from client assistant to full partner, brings a fresh perspective to the team. A Kentucky native with a finance degree from the University of South Carolina, he joined the Roanoke office in 2019 after moving to the area with his wife, Alyssa, a local funeral director at Nicely Funeral Home. Their son, Liam, was born here and recently celebrated his 3rd birthday.

Both advisors are Certified Financial Planner professionals and can operate under a fiduciary duty, legally obligating them to act in their clients’ best interests when giving financial advice. Their investment philosophy focuses on conservative, long-term strategies, particularly dividend-growth stocks.

“We look at purchasing stocks as becoming an owner in a business,” LeMaster said. Following the philosophy of legendary investor Warren Buffett, they seek companies that consistently increase dividends, viewing this as a sign of financial strength.

Notably, the team does not impose investment minimums, believing financial guidance should be accessible to everyone. For smaller accounts, they utilize exchange-traded funds and strategic portfolio mirroring to provide comprehensive service.

Beyond traditional investment management, their services include retirement planning, long-term care education, and business succession planning. Dudley, a Certified Long Term Care professional, emphasizes the growing importance of preparing for extended healthcare needs as life expectancies increase.

Community involvement is central to their mission. Dudley has been active in local organizations like the Kiwanis Club and Masonic fraternity, while LeMaster recently joined the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. “We want to be a huge positive financial impact on the local community,” LeMaster said, with a particular focus on serving the Alleghany Highlands region.

Their team, which includes Private Client Associate Sandra Arnold with over 40 years of experience, collectively represents more than a century of financial expertise. This depth of experience comes at a critical time, with industry research suggesting over 100,000 financial advisors plan to retire in the next decade.

The local Janney Montgomery Scott office is located at 110 Franklin Road Southeast, Suite 500, in Roanoke. Clients can also access information through www.janney.com, or www.hadendudley.com.

As the financial landscape continues to evolve, Dudley and LeMaster remain committed to their core principle: providing personalized, multi-generational financial guidance that extends far beyond simple investment management. “If someone needs help with finances, we’re going to find a way to help,” LeMaster said. “That’s the bottom line.”

For those seeking comprehensive financial planning that considers not just immediate needs but future generations, this Roanoke-based team offers a unique, relationship-driven approach to wealth management.
