Joowon Chung, a rising senior at Alleghany High School, spent part of her summerstudying medicine at the Governor’s School for Medicine and Health Sciences inRoanoke. She’s part of the AHA: Healthcare Program and is passionate about helping others through a future healthcare career. Chung also helps give young people a voice in public health as a member of the Virginia Department of Health Youth Advisory Board and started a school club to support children in the community with serious medical needs. Steven Elroy Scott

Steven Elroy Scott, age 68, of 2617 Vassar Street, Low Moor, Virginia died on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at his residence. 

Mr. Scott was born on June 7, 1957, in Covington, Virginia to the late David Lee and Luvella Smith Scott.  He was a brakeman and conductor for CSX Transportation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ronald Scott, David L. Scott, Jr., Stanley Scott, Raymond Scott, and a sister, Phyllis Coleman.

He is survived by a brother, Charles Scott and wife Laura of Chesapeake, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.  There are no services planned at this time.
