Dear Editor,                                     March 2025

President Trump is interested in helping the Ukrainian people by helping the Ukrainian nation economically. He has said he will not help Ukraine to continue make war, causing the additional deaths and wounding of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians.

President Trump is 100% right by telling the Ukrainian President to his face that he is the dictator of Ukraine. Imagine if POTUS Trump cancelled the 2020 elections by not allowing it to be held and then remained in office. He could have cited the Covid Pandemic throughout the nation at that time as the reason to do this. That excuse actually would have been more legitimate than the reason Zelensky cited in his cancellation of the May 2024 Presidential elections in Ukraine. Since 2022 Russia has only acquired 10%-11% of Ukraine’s territory and Ukraine’s population. Yet nearly 90% of Ukrainian citizens, who still live under the jurisdiction of the Kyiv-based government in Ukraine, were denied the right to vote 10 months ago.

If POTUS Trump cancelled the 2020 elections, how could anyone (domestic and foreign) treat his Presidency with credibility? Would he not be viewed as a dictator? All of Ukraine is still under martial law despite the fact the vast majority of Ukrainians have not been impacted by Russia in this conflict. What if Trump, after cancelling the 2020 POTUS elections, extended martial law in the USA indefinitely? What if he banned opposition parties, totally destroyed free speech, and put journalists in prison? How could any Head Of State of another nation view him as the legitimate representative of the America people?

The answer is no one would take POTUS Trump seriously. So how can anyone take Ukrainian President Zelensky with seriousness, especially as he clamours for more money and weapons to continue to make war? The answer is no one, especially the Head of State of another nation, should. Hopefully Zelensky does right for the Ukrainian people by ending this war ASAP.

Very Truly Yours,
Harsha Sankar
