COVINGTON, Va, (VR) – Many throughout the Alleghany Highlands came together in a huge way this year to honor our veterans and to thank them for their service by making valentines to thank them for their service.
The community showed tremendous support for our Valentines for Veterans Project. The number of cards we received from so many individuals and groups was overwhelming. It is not possible to list every single special person who added to the total of cards that were sent out this year. If there is any omission we apologize. If you made a single one or 100 valentines, you made a difference. You are special to the success of our endeavor and we thank you. Every card, every contribution and every small donation counts.
Over 1,000 cards were made, addressed, stamped and sent on the way to one of our veterans.
Recipients included our veterans’ hospitals, the VFW National Home in Michigan and hundreds of individuals recommended by local people.
This was made possible by hours and hours of time contributed. From young to old, Pre-K to nursing homes, individuals to teams, a single person to a single business, we thank you.
