Hazel Marie Nicely
Hazel Marie Nicely, age 91, of 1029 Cliftwood Circle, Clifton Forge, Virginia died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, while at The Highland House, Clifton Forge.
Hazel was born on December 28, 1933, in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Emmett Russell and Annie Bell Higgins Nicely. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a long-time member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for Racey and Dean Insurance for over fifty years and supported her local Alleghany Humane Society. Hazel loved cats, as well as dining out with friends and listening to the music of The Announcers, a local gospel group.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her brother, Lonnie Nicely.
She is survived by a number of cousins and friends, including special friends, Tom and Debbie O’Meara and Dean Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher and Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Jack Harlow, Bruce Profitt, Alan Dale Craft, Mutsy Tingler, Dale Muterspaugh, and Chris Fisher. Friends may visit on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
