BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (VR) – Virginia State Police is investigating a three-vehicle crash. The crash occurred Tuesday (Jan 21) at 3:02 p.m. on Route 460, at Laymantown Road in Botetourt County.
A 2017 GMC Sierra was traveling east on Route 460 and failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left town onto Laymantown Road. The GMC was struck by a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer which was traveling west on Route 460. After striking the GMC, the Freightliner ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned. The GMC then struck a 2016 Mack dump truck, which was stopped at the stop sign on Laymantown Road.
The driver of the GMC, Erdie M Trigg, III, 73, of Troutville, Va. Mr. Trigg was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Mr. Trigg was charged with Fail to Yield the Right-of-Way.
The drivers of the trucks were wearing their seatbelts and were injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
