Alleghany County Sheriff Office Holds Ceremony to Honor Employees

COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Alleghany County Sheriff Kyle Moore held a ceremony, on Friday, Jan. 10, to acknowledge his staff for recent promotions and special recognition. Six officers were promoted, two employees were named Employee of the Year and two jail staff members were recognized.

Moore stated that Deputy Browning and jail nurse Rojenna Morgan went above and beyond during a recent incident where an inmate was experiencing a medical emergency. Browning and Morgan reacted appropriately and due to the quick response they saved the inmate from further harm.

Tony J. Smallwood was recognized for always jumping in and assisting when needed in his jail position.

Sue Whiting, dispatcher supervisor, was recognized for her promptness in providing officers with information.

The following employees were promoted.

Deputy Evan Soto to the rank of Corporal;

Deputy Robert Gillespie to the rank of Corporal;

Deputy William Clark to the rank of Corporal;

Deputy David Creedon to the rank of Corporal;

Deputy Barry Schell to the rank of Sergeant;

Sergeant Kenny Curry to the rank of First Sergeant.
