LOW MOOR, Va. (VR) — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools elementary schools and Covington Middle School will be closed for students on Monday, Dec. 9 under a calendar change approved by the school board. Alleghany High School, Jackson River Technical Center, and Clifton Academy will be open on that date.
CMS and the elementary schools will be closed for professional development related to the Virginia Literacy Act requirements for staff in grades K-8. The AHPS board approved the calendar adjustment to assist identified staff in meeting the requirements.
All schools will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
