Covington Middle School teacher and students present “cakewalk math” to AHSB

Andrew Hansford, left, Covington Middle School math teacher Crystal Wimmer-Dick, and Jagger Rowland introduced the Alleghany Highlands School Board to “cakewalk math” on Monday, Nov. 18. The interactive instructional method involves music and task cards that give students multi-step math equations to solve. Students are randomly selected to receive a Little Debbie Cake as a reward.  “Cakewalk math” was featured during the school board’s monthly ‘instructional spotlight.” Hansford and Rowland are seventh graders.
