Hot Springs, VA. — The Omni Homestead Resort is celebrating the 3rd anniversary of its own unique Virginia Wine Experience with two days of food, master classes and wine tastings, including a unique opportunity to taste the wines of Linden Vineyards with winemaker Jim Law. Several Virginia wineries will be highlighted during the November 8-9 weekend’s events, capped off with a grand Taste of Virginia Food & Wine Festival.
“Virginia is a truly remarkable wine destination, and we are proud to have been an advocate for the industry through this event and our Virginia Wine Experience,” said Mark Spadoni, managing director of The Omni Homestead. “This is a weekend when we get to honor the hundreds of winemakers across the Commonwealth that we celebrate all through the year in our Virginia Wine Experience tasting room.”
The weekend begins with an exclusive horizontal and vertical wine tasting with Jim Law of Linden Vineyards. The owner of Linden Vineyards Ltd. and winegrower of Hardscrabble Vineyard, Ohio native Jim Law was raised in the 1960s and 1970s by parents who loved to share their passion for food and wine. In 1981, Jim was hired to start a winery in the Shenandoah Valley where he fell in love with the area and established Linden Vineyards and consulted for other wineries, as well as teaching winegrowing at local community colleges.
Guests will then enjoy a culinary experience unlike any other on Friday night. An elegant, four-course meal is enhanced with wine pairings from some of the Commonwealth’s most renowned vineyards. Six distinctive wineries will host tables and pour their own wines during the meal, including Barboursville Vineyards, Arterra Wines, Chrysalis Vineyards, DuCard Vineyards, Fifty-Third Winery & Vineyard, Horton Vineyards and Rappahannock Cellars. Throughout the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on an array of unique experiences at The Omni Homestead in a silent auction to benefit Bath County’s Christmas Mother program.
Saturday morning begins with master’s classes on wines made from Virginia’s own Norton grape and holiday entertaining cooking tips from Executive Chef Michael Zmigrodski and Executive Pastry Chef Pablo Rodriguez, and cocktail mixology with Lead Bartender/Mixologist Christa Thomas, who will demonstrate how to make her Whiskey Snap. At the Norton class, we will learn who will take home the Homestead Norton Cup, a competition among all the Virginia vineyards that grow this special grape, and guests will be able to taste entrants and vote for their favorite.
The weekend concludes with a grand Taste of Virginia on Saturday afternoon where guests will enjoy cuisine to accompany exquisite wine and cider tastings during this incredible three-hour event.
