The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office would like to report that we have apprehended another suspected pedophile.
This time investigators made contact with a suspect over the internet and discovered that he lived in Davis, WV which is in Tucker County. Once his address was confirmed and contact was made with the West Virginia State Police, investigators made a trip to WV and interviewed Mr. Phillip W. Crossland 50 y/o white male, and were able to obtain a confession for four counts of Virginia Code 18.2-374.3, Use of Communication Systems to Facilitate Certain Offenses Against Minors. Crossland was arrested by West Virginia authorities on October 31, 2024 and is currently being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in West Virginia, awaiting extradition to Alleghany Regional Jail.
Sheriff Moore stated, “We are committed to safeguarding the innocence of our community’s children and we stand united with our law enforcement partners to ensure that those who threaten the safety of our children will be held accountable. The Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office will always consider these types of investigations as priorities.”
Sheriff Moore also wants to remind parents and guardians to always stay alert to what your children and those in your care are viewing on the internet. It is a dangerous world out there for today’s youth.
