COVINGTON Va. (VR) – An alleged sexual assault incident occurred at a recent football game at Alleghany Highlands High School. The City of Covington released the following statement:
“On September 13, 2024 at 8:35 PM, Officers were alerted during the Alleghany Highlands High School football game of a potential sexual assault that had occurred involving a juvenile female. Once the victim was located, she was able to give a detailed description of the suspect and the incident that took place. While Officers were attempting to locate the suspect, another juvenile female was identified as a potential victim of sexual assault involving the same suspect. Soon after the second report, the suspect was located and immediately taken into custody. After the suspect was taken into custody, police identified two additional female victims who made similar allegations of sexual assault by the suspect.
“Officers conducted a preliminary investigation and with the information gathered from the victims and witnesses who were on scene, arrested Ronald W. Liptrap of Covington for sexual assault and public intoxication. R. Liptrap was subsequently transported to the Alleghany County Regional Jail and is currently being held without bond.
“The City of Covington Police Division’s investigation remains ongoing and believes there may be more victims and/or witnesses to this incident.
