The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is hosting three Candidates Forum events on September 4th , September 5th, and September 9th . The Candidates Forums are being sponsored by the Chamber as an effort to encourage citizens to become more involved in local government by learning about the issues and positions of local candidates. The public is encouraged to attend.
Clifton Forge Town Council

Covington City Council
Candidates: Lee Roe, Raymond Hunter, Susan Wolfe, Thomas “Tom” Sibold Jr., David Crosier, and

Location: Covington City Hall Council Chambers

Alleghany Highlands Public Schools School Board
Candidates: Jacob Wright and Robert “Bob” Umstead
Date: Monday, September 9th
Location: Gleason Hall Auditorium of Clifton Academy
Time: 6:30pm
Members of the public will be allowed to submit written questions at the forum: a panel will review the questions before they are posed to the candidates. The moderator will pose the same question to each of the candidates and each candidate will have a limited time to respond. At the end of the forum, each candidate will be given three minutes to present statements about their candidacy and explain why they are running for office and their position on various issues.
