COVINGTON, Va. (VR) – Judges met at Covington High School on Monday evening to select the final Mr. and Miss CHS. This is the last year Covington High School will be in existence as the merger with the Alleghany Public School System will take effect at the start of next school year. CHS will become the Covington Middle School at that time.

Miss CHS contestants Lauren Bragg, Aubrey Brown, Gabriyl Marshall, Emma Scott, Brianna Tetreault and Kinley Willis, and Mr. CHS contestants Dean Anderson, Luke Conner, Jacob Davis, Isaiah Hubble, Oscar Perez and Hayden Rodgers were all on hand to be interviewed by the judges.

The contestants were judged on “attitudes, academics, school and community activities, character and overall impression,” said Mr. and Miss CHS coordinator Tracey Spangler. The winners were secretly selected, but the winners won’t be revealed “until May 17 at 9 a.m. in the school’s auditorium,” said Cora Poteat, the other Mr. and Miss CHS coordinator.

The judges making the selections for the historic and final Mr. and Miss CHS were Kim Lewis, Deborah Sampson, Adrienne Young, Linda Cook, Pearl Miller and Donna Wooding.
