An 11 year old record is on the verge from being broken.
Last Friday, the Riverheads Gladiators varsity football team defeated the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues 55-14.
The win for the Gladiators not only gave them a 2-0 start to their season, the win matched the all-time VHSL streak for consecutive football victories at 52.
With their 52 straight win, the Gladiators tied Phoebus High School out of Hampton whom set the VHSL record from 2008-2011.
In a Class 3 showdown this Friday night, the Gladiators with a home win over the visiting Lord Botetourt will set the VHSL record for consecutive wins in a row.
The Gladiators also hold the nation’s current longest win streak. De La Salle High School in Concord, CA own the all-time nation record with 151 straight wins from 1992-2004.
