The Covington Fire Department answered two calls to extinguish house fires, one in Clifton Forge and one in Covington on Thurs., Jan. 27.
Fire Chief Andrew Baker of the Covington Fire Department reported that while assisting Clifton Forge Fire Department and Selma Fire Department fight a house fire in Clifton Forge, another call was made from occupants of a house in Covington whose house had caught fire from an undetermined cause.
Chief Baker added that the Red Cross is assisting those who escaped from the blaze unharmed to find housing.
Fire Departments from Boiling Spring, Falling Springs, Dunlap, and Selma assisted the Covington Fire Department in extinguishing the blaze in Covington.
Fire Marshall Robert Boyd of the Clifton Forge Fire Department noted that the house fire at 113 W. Pine St. in Clifton Forge was a two-story home and that the fire started in the attic and spread to damage two bedrooms.
He also reported that the Red Cross is assisting the homeowners with finding housing.
The cause of both fires remains undetermined, and no one was injured in either blaze.
