Connie June Goad Carver, age 72, of Clifton Forge, Virginia passed away at home on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
She was born September 5, 1949 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Paul Frank Goad, Sr. and Ruth Belcher Goad. She graduated from Big Creek High School and Concord College with a degree in Physical Education and taught at Covington High School for over thirty years. She was a member of the Professional Women’s Organization (BPW) serving as its president, and the Alleghany Retired Teachers Association. Connie was a long standing member of the First Christian Church of Covington.
For many years, Connie and her husband, Tom enjoyed riding motorcycles. They were members of the ABATE motorcycle organization (“Mountain Thunder”), the Christian Motorcycle Association, and the Retreads Motorcycle Organization for fifty and older.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Thomas “Tom” Carver, Jr., and brother-in-law, Bunny Harrison.
She is survived by three brothers, Paul Goad, Jr. and wife Sandy of Summersville, WV, David Goad and wife Drema of Morristown, TN, and William Goad of Newhall, WV; nieces and nephews, Brian Goad and wife Andrea, Tina Webb, Justin Goad and wife Angie, Daniel Goad and wife Connie, Cindy McPail and husband Bryan and their daughter, Alexis, Nancy Ierna and husband Randy and their son, Byron and his wife Lorie, and Allen Harrison and wife Beverly.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM in First Christian Church, Covington with Reverend Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
