Following the VDH report of 7,439 new COVID cases, the 4th highest spike, Dr. Cynthia Morrow expressed her concern that there may be under reporting due to more home test kits being available.
The report listed 142 hospitalizations in the Roanoke Alleghany District and 185 new virus related deaths.
The latest report reveals that Roanoke County tops the list with 78 new cases, Botetourt County second with 31 and Roanoke City third with 28.
Salem reported 22, Craig County, six; Alleghany, two; and the City of Covington, one.
Consequently, on Mon., Jan. 10, 2022, the health departments within Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts will offer COVID vaccinations, and on Fri., Jan. 7, 2022, vaccinations (Pfizer, Moderna and J&J) will be made available to the public from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Belmont Christian Church at 1101 Jamison Ave., SE in Roanoke.
The Eagle Rock Library will offer Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations for ages five and up on Wed., Jan. 12 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The library is located at 55 Eagles Nest Drive in Eagle Rock.
Roanoke City Health Department (RCHD) will offer Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccinations on Thurs., Jan. 13, between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Ages five and up will be eligible for vaccinations at the RCHD’s location at 1502 Williamson Rd. in Roanoke.
