LEXINGTON — The Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany hosted its annual reception at Jordan’s Point this year. In the midst of continued health and safety concerns, an outdoor event was planned.
The Community Foundation for Rockbridge, Bath and Alleghany has quickly grown to over $7.6 million, managing over 70 endowment funds. The annual event highlighted how they were able to distribute over $300,000 to area not-for-profit organizations from the endowments.
The annual grants were in addition to monies already distributed in 2021, which included $15,000 COVID-19 Relief Funds and $30,000 in scholarships. In October CFRBA gave away $20,000 in surprise grants and has also funded $60,000 in Walker Program monies to start four businesses for black entrepreneurs. A collective total of $425,000 was given back to the communities served in 2021.
“During this pandemic, we worked hard to find safe ways to accomplish our mission. We did not allow the COVID19 pandemic to delay us getting much-needed funding into the hands of the agencies we serve. Yet, in the midst of turmoil, people engaging in service around us remain deeply caring and generous when it came to helping their neighbors.
