Dear Editor,
First I want to commend both Donnie Tincher and Ernie Fitzgerald for their good letters to the editor on Thursday the 21st and Saturday, the 23rd. They were both 100 percent correct in their comments as to what is wrong with our country and who is to blame. Thank you both.
I want to talk about our state government. Our Democratic leaders in Richmond are of the same mindset as our left-wing radicals in Washington. Gov. Ralph Northam more than one time in his speeches said, “I am a doctor, I save lives.” He then signed a bill allowing abortion of request.
In every abortion, at least one person dies. How does abortion save lives? Northam, Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and Attorney General Mark Herring all approved the abortion bill, same-sex marriage and homosexuality. These people must have never read the Bible or they don’t believe in God.
They need to read the first five books of the Old Testament and see how God took care of His people when they obeyed His covenant and how He punished them when they turned to sin. Thanks to the left-wing liberals who are in charge of their respective states, along with President Joe Biden and his left-wing liberals in Wahington, we are headed down a dangerous path. We haven’t quite reached the bottom yet, but it won’t take long. With inflation at its highest point in modern history, we are in for some bad days.
When Biden was campaigning for president, he said that if Trump won, we would have a long, dark and cold winter. It looks like a long, dark and cold winter is what we are headed for and the blame lies squarely on Biden.
One more black mark for our state is Del. Chis Hurst, who was stopped for erratic driving onU.S. Route 460. He failed a DUI test but he was not charged. It seems that a lawmaker can’t be charged with a crime if the legislature is in session. The officer who stopped him could have held that ticket and served it after the legislature adjourned. Since Hurst is a Democrat and our state legislature is controlled by the Democrats, the Christiansburg police officer would have been fired for doing his job. Way to go, Chris, you are setting a good example.
I now want to make a few comments about our federal government. President Biden and his liberal Congress are trying to pass a spending bill that this country can’t stand. We are already $28 trillion in debt. Most of this debt is owed to China. If China should call for payment of this debt, we will all have to learn to speak Chinese. Biden, Pelosi and Schummer all say this spending bill won’t increase our taxes or add to the national debt. Joe, there is no Santa Claus or Fairy God Mother. Our only hope is that Sen. Joe Manchin and Sen. Krysten Sinema will do what their constituents elected them to do and not give in to Biden, Pelosi and Schummer.
I think Joe Biden will go down as the worst president in the history of our country. I sometimes catch myself feeling sorry for him, but I pinch myself and realize he dug this hole that he is in and he should lay his shovel down and quit digging deeper.
President Biden said, “I should go to the border, but I just don’t have time.” He made time to campaign for McAuliffe. Given the president’s apparent mental state, I’m not sure I would want him to be campaigning for me. If it wasn’t for teleprompters and scripted questions and answers, President Biden wouldn’t be able to hold a press conference or town hall meeting. With all due respect, President Biden wants to go to the border if given the time. On the other hand, Vice President Harris tried to go to the border, but couldn’t find it. Maybe Harris needs a service dog to help her find the border.
I am not just an unhappy voter who voted for Trump and will vote for Glenn Youngkin. I used to vote a straight Democratic ticket until they turned their backs against the working class. I even voted for Obama the first time he ran. When Obama started the social giveaway programs in order to secure votes, I had to vote Republican.
Now Biden and his Democrat-controlled Congress are going to give free health care and free college tuition to the illegal immigrants at the expense of the American taxpayer. I have three granddaughters who work and with the help of their parents are paying for their education. I also have one grandson who paid his own tuition by working. Thanks Joe, Pelosi and Schummer for all your help.
Just one more comment about the Virginia governor’s election. Terry McAuliffe started campaigning for this election while he was in office the first time by restoring voting rights to 200,000 convicted felons. He feels sure he will get all of these votes. Some of these people, no doubt, have led good, productive lives since returning to the public sector. A lot of these people (one is too many) returned to illegal activity after being released from prison. Thanks Terry.
Thank you for printing my letter.
Sincerely,
Ralph Watson
