CLIFTON FORGE — Vivian June Brooks Pendleton, age 75, of 1710 Main Street, Apt. 116, Clifton Forge, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, October 18, 2021, at her residence.
She was born February 24, 1946, in Covington, Virginia to the late Frank Brooks and Agnes Honaker Brooks.
Vivian was raised in the Grace Brethren Church in Covington and attended Immanuel Baptist Church and Oak Hill Bible Church. She was instrumental in organizing and starting the STARS program for mentally and physically impaired children at the Masonic Theater. She was also a popular comedian for the Virginia Opry as “Bibbie June”. She loved to collect barometers, and enjoyed all art, painting, loved writing stories, comedy, she loved music and dancing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She wanted all of her friends and family to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Pendleton and two sisters, Frances Burhenn and Lucille Markum.
She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Pendleton of Covington, Scarlet Nicely and husband Todd of Selma, Leslie Warlitner and husband Greg of Salem; five sons, Stephen Pendleton and wife Beverly of Eagle Rock, Eric Pendleton and wife Amy of Waynesboro, Vincent Pendleton of Virginia Beach, Samuel Pendleton and wife Ellarie of Roanoke, and Louis Pendleton and wife Kim of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Mary Barber and husband Bill of Covington, Shirley Keith and husband J.E. of Hampton, Velma Craft and husband James of Covington; 11 grandchildren, Jonathon Pendleton, John Warner, Michael Pendleton, Jonah Dwiggins, Nina Quitugua, Kylie Duke, Christian Pendleton, Chloe Warlitner, Tommy Warlitner, Brayden Pendleton, Bryce Pendleton, and Samuel Brooks Pendleton, Christopher Mayo, and Donald Mayo; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sheila Hostetter Craft, Alison Hayes, Janet Stevens, Bobbie Sue Hancock, Faye Smith, Roxanne Smithers Nicely, and Chris Fisher.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lloyd Camp officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
Active pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Special Olympics Area 18, C/O J.D Jones, 825 Edgemont Drive, Covington, Virginia 24426, or Intrepid Hospice.
Vivian would like to thank Dr. B. Scott Brown, Dr. Barns, Jim Bay, and Alyssa Rexroad with Intrepid Hospice for their compassionate care during her last days.
