Covington native Teresa “Tracy” Persinger has announced her candidacy for Covington treasurer in the Nov. 2 general election.
A long-time resident of the city of Covington, Persinger is the daughter of James and Patty Crosier of Covington and the mother of Dylan and Cristi Persinger.
She is a graduate of Covington High School and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, graduating with an associate’s degree in Business Management.
For 25 years, Persinger was an employee of the city of Covington, serving seven years in the city treasurer’s office. For the past two years, she has been employed by the Covington City School System as an accounting clerk.
“I have always enjoyed working for, and getting to know, the residents of the city of Covington,” Persinger said. “As treasurer, I want to make your treasurer’s office more efficient and providing more user-friendly options for business and residential taxpayers. I have a very good understanding of the MUNIS accounting program the city of Covington has purchased and my plan, as your treasurer, is to utilize the program to its maximum efficiency for the city and her residents.”
Persinger added, “I believe in honesty, confidentiality and integrity as being vital to having a positive relationship as treasurer. I am a city of Covington resident, have been for most of my life, and I am dependable and will be in the office to answer any and all questions and to always be on top of my duties as your treasurer.
“I have completed over half of the credit classes needed to be certified as deputy treasurer and I will continue to take the required classes necessary to be certified as a treasurer.”
Outside of her contributions to the city’s residents, Persinger enjoys being outdoors, walking, camping and going to the beach. She also attends First Christian Church in Covington and serves as a pianist at the church.
“I want to thank everyone for their encouragement as I have campaigned for the office of Treasurer,” Persinger said. “I ask for your vote on November 2 and my pledge to you, the residents, is to do the very best job I can as your new treasurer.”
