Daniel Scott Brown, age 56 of 3907 Forty-Two Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, stepped into eternity on October 6, 2021, due to COVID-19.
Daniel was born on February 24, 1965, in Clifton Forge to the late Donald and Edith Brackenridge Brown.
He was a retired woodcutter/logger for Bennett Logging, who truly enjoyed his job, as well as hunting, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. He also loved to watch John Wayne western movies in his spare time. He was a loving husband, caring father, and a great-grandpa.
He was well known in the community as a hard worker and everyone knew of his gardening skills. If he wasn’t in the garden or the hay fields, you could always find him on his porch swing, ready for a conversation. He will be deeply missed by family and a multitude of friends. In his last few days, Daniel professed his belief in Jesus Christ. Daniel knew that this wasn’t the end, but yet a new beginning. Though we will mourn and hurt for a while, we will also find strength and security in knowing that we will one day see him again. The Bible says “absent from the body is present with the Lord”. We hold these beliefs to be true. The Bible also says “for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bradberry Brown of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Courtney Brown of Rich Patch, Covington, and Bethany Simmons (Adam) of Crawley, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Misti McGuffey (Jared) of Clifton Forge; two stepsons, Ben Nicely of Clifton Forge and Issac Nicely (Lizzie) of Fredericksburg; four sisters, Pam Thurston (David) and Cindy Hayslett (Lonnie), both of Eagle Rock, and Dreama Robinson and Mary Jo Irvin (Larry), both of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Barry Brown (Irma) and David Brown (Sherry), both of Clifton Forge; seven grandchildren, Jessie, Cope, Emma, Sawyer, Mylie, Kiden, and Quinlynn; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Lilly.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at 3 p.m. in Victory Baptist Church (the former Save-A-Lot location) in Clifton Forge, in which Daniel played an instrumental role in constructing. The Rev. Brandon Nicely will officiate. T
