LEXINGTON — Linda LaVonne Perkins, 73, of Glasgow, Virginia, returned to her heavenly home on September 22, 2021. She was surrounded by family when she gained her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend – who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished.
Linda was born on August 30, 1948, the youngest child of the late Wesley and Velma Matney Ambrose in Glen Wilton, Virginia. Linda met the love of her life, John William “Billy” Perkins and they were married on October 3, 1964.
Linda was a healer at heart. She was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She was a Registered Nurse and private nurse for over fifteen years. Linda left nursing to devote her life to her children. Without any doubt, Linda’s greatest love was her family. Linda was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals and candy for family and friends, especially over the holidays. She collected hundreds of recipes and created a family cookbook. Linda was a highly skilled quilter, knitter and crocheter.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years; Billy Perkins, children, John Anthony “Tony” Perkins, Tammy Perkins Cash and Mike Cash, Tonya Perkins Stinnett and Jeff Stinnett, grandchildren; Brianna and Casey Stinnett, Michael and Joshua Cash, great-grandchild; Michael Ray Cash, siblings; Gene Ambrose, Faye Fields and Freddie Ambrose.
Linda was reunited in heaven with her son, Thomas Eugene and sister, Joan Hilton.
She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate that she is at peace with her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Linda’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital – as this organization was very important to her.
