BUENA VISTA — Parry McCluer plated three runs in the top of the fifth here Friday, capping a comeback 6-5 win over Bath County in the nightcap of a Pioneer District baseball doubleheader.
The Fighting Blues (3-1, Pioneer, 3-1 overall) scored 12 times in the first inning, beating the Chargers 14-9 in the opener.
Russell Ingram pitched a complete game in the second contest, striking out seven and walking one, while giving up just a pair of earned runs.
Ingram joined Tyler Dillow, Wyatt Harmon and Jayden Ryder with one hit each.
The Chargers put two on with two outs in the last of the sixth, but Aaron Plogger got a strikeout to end the game and earn the pitching win.
The Blues sent 16 hitters to the plate in the home half of the first in game one, jumping to a 12-2 lead.
Malakai Blees pitched the complete game for the
Chargers, allowing 14 runs, but just one earned.
Harmon was 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the BCHS offense, Dillow had two hits and drove in three, while Blees had two hits, Jacob McComb knocked in two runs and Ingram scored three times.
Bath County (0-4 Pioneer District, 0-5 overall) plays at Eastern Montgomery on Friday at 5 p.m.
