GALAX (AP) – Vaughn-Bassett Furniture is planning an $8 million expansion of its operations in Galax.
The expansion includes the $1.5 million acquisition of a former Webb bedroom furniture factory next to Vaughn-Bassett’s main factory. The main factory will be expanded.
Media outlets report that Vaughn-Bassett announced the expansion Thursday. It’s expected to increase production capacity by 50 percent and create at least 50 jobs by July.
The former Webb factory is scheduled to reopen in March.
Vaughn-Bassett could receive state and local financial incentives if it meets certain spending and job targets by March 2015.
