Dear Editor,
I was wondering how many readers saw the story on the house fire in Potts Creek that left the family homeless, I for one did not see it.
How about the story on the 22 year old female from Clifton Forge who was missing for days, missed that one also.
Then there was the one about the vicious dog in Selma that has mauled two other dogs leaving one wounded and the other one dead. You got it, I missed that one too.
It isn’t that I missed them it is the Virginian Review failed to report these local news events.
However, if you want to know about a hard snow storm hitting Colorado, or the Pennsylvania town of Jersey Shore wanting to have a sitcom, or if you are interested in knowing that Steve Jobs and Neil Young listened to vinyl records you were in luck, the Virginian Review published those stories.
I guess my point is that our local paper is not reporting local events they are just pulling stories off the internet. Case in point, one day this week there was only one news story wrote by a Virginian Review reporter, the rest was pulled from the Associate Press news page.
One other thing, while speaking of the web, why does the Virginian Review feel they need to charge us to go on their web site. I mean I already subscribe to their newspaper so why do I need to pay to check the same news out on line. I mean I can check other newspapers websites such as Roanoke, Richmond, Washin-gton, Staunton, Wayne-sboro…without paying but I have to pay to see the newspaper’s web site that I am subscribed to. I must be crazy to keep paying for a local newspaper that does not report local news and wants to double bill me.
Well maybe I am crazy but I’m not quite that crazy. I believe when my subscription comes due I will not pay it.
Instead I will go to where you can get all the local news, or gossip, the East Coast gas station in Clifton Forge.
Sincerely,
Bobby Hippert
