Dr. Glenn Dubois, right, chancellor of the Virginia Community College System, recently visited Dabney S. Lancaster Community College as part of his plan to visit all 23 community colleges with updates on the VCCS “reengineering” initiative.
Dr. Dubois launched efforts to look at ways in which Virginia’s community colleges operate in light of large enrollment growth and reductions in state funding.
The visit included a brief presentation and chance for DSLCC faculty and staff to ask questions about reengineering.
Dr. Dubois stressed his view that community colleges provide the most efficient service of all Virginia’s higher education sector, but pointed out that opportunities still exist for serving more students and businesses, and producing more graduates for Virginia’s economy.
Dr. Richard Teaff, DSLCC president, hosted the chancellor and his staff and led them through two buildings, Warren and Scott halls, that are undergoing renovations and additions to better serve students and the community.
