The Charles P. Jones Memorial Library’s OverDrive eBook collection is now compatible with the world’s bestselling eBook reader, the Amazon Kindle.

Patrons can now download popular and classic eBooks to any Kindle device.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this added service to area residents”, said Library Director, Lisa Hicks.

Library patrons may browse over 3,500 titles available from OverDrive, a leading full-service digital distributor of eBooks, audiobooks, and other digital products.

“Patrons have a wonderful selection of downloadable eBooks and audiobooks to choose from, and new titles are constantly being added,” Hicks said.

In three easy steps patrons can browse, check-out, and download selected items.

Patrons can visit the Charles P. Jones Memorial Library website at www.cpjones.org. From there, patrons should select the OverDrive link and sign in using a valid Charles P. Jones Memorial Library card number. Patrons are encouraged to work through the “Quick Start Guide” which prompts users to download and install the free software required to access titles.

After all needed software has been installed, patrons may search the OverDrive collection, check-out titles, then download them to a home computer (PC or Mac) or mobile device. Titles can be enjoyed immediately or transferred to a variety of devices, including the Amazon Kindle, NOOK, Sony Reader, most Apple and Android products, and many more. Titles will automatically be returned at the end of the lending period, and there are no late fees.

A mobile app is also available to access OverDrive from smart phones or PDAs.

For more information about the service visit the library’s webpage at www.cpjones.org or by calling the library at 962-3321.
