Mrs. Mary Anna Taylor Dressler, age 87, formerly of Clearwater Park, Covington, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Waynesboro Manor, Waynesboro. She was the wife of the late Harold Benton Dressler.
Mrs. Dressler was born November 21, 1924 in Covington, the daughter of the late Grace Merritt Taylor and William Alton Taylor, Sr.
She was a graduate of Covington High School and Madison College and taught in elementary schools for forty years in Covington and Alleghany County before retiring in 1987.
Mrs. Dressler was a lifelong member of Covington Baptist Church where she served her church in numerous capacities.
Mrs. Dressler is survived by six children, Gregory Steven Dressler and wife, Ramona of San Bernardino, Calif., Paula Delaney of Fishersville, Marsha Wray and husband, Michael of Roanoke; Cynthia Hartley of Waynesboro, Timothy Dressler and wife, Sara of Clifton Forge and Renick Dressler and wife, Tina of Stuarts Draft; seven grandchildren, Christopher Dressler, Corey Wray, Kristen Wray, Pamela Hartley Cox, Erick Harltey, Bradley Dressler and Rendy Dressler; two great grandchildren, Duncan Jentzech and Jacob Cox; two sisters, Elsie Slough of Richmond and Alice Vernon of Springfield, Tenn.; one brother, William A. Taylor, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann of Easley, S.C.; a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving and caring staff of Waynesboro Manor, where Mary resided for the last five years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.
Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Waynesboro Manor, 809 Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro Va. 22980.
