The Covington High School chapter of the Technology Student Association recently competed in the Blue Ridge Region Technosphere competition for all Technology Education students.
The Blue Ridge Region spans from Covington to Pulaski, Martinsville and Lynchburg, and comprises over 1,500 technology students.
Since there are no school-size classifications, CHS was competing against many larger size schools, and won more first place trophies than any other high school.
CHS has three students registered. The team of James Karnes, left, and Jackson Hinkle, right, won first place in computer programming and technology challenge.
Hinkle also won first place in automotive design, flight endurance and manufacturing.
Hinkle was also this year’s Blue Ridge Region vice president, bringing the total to 55 region officers that Wes Worley, CHS technology instructor, has had in his 26 years at CHS.
Karnes and Hinkle are now eligible to compete in the Technosphere state competition, scheduled for May 4-6 in Richmond.
