Dear Sir,
The Weekday Religious Education Council is planning an evening of entertainment on Saturday, April 28 at 7 p. m. at Covington High School. There will be several groups to sing, a teen band, praise dancers, WRE students to sing and others.
The WRE program has grown and the Low Moor building is too small, making it necessary for one class to meet every other week, to be in accord with the school system schedule. Grades 2, 3 and 4 are picked up at the school and taken to a building off school property each week for a Bible lesson, songs, activities, all within a 30 minute time slot and returned to the school.
WRE has three teachers who teach in all Alleghany Highland schools September through May and is totally financed by donations from churches, individuals and fund raisers. It has a council with officers and members who abide by the By-Laws and Constitution of the state of Virginia.
The classes grew in Covington and in 2010 a used van was purchased to be used with a smaller van to transport the students. A 12 by 24 foot shell building has been ordered and will be placed on the lot now used and will be finished inside by September with volunteers, but money will be needed to pay for the building and materials.
Mark your calendar now and bring a car load of people to enjoy this evening of entertainment. Admission is free. A free will offering will be taken.
