EAGLE?��ROCK?��-Myles Carlton Chesnut, 69, of 1331 Locust Bottom Rd., Eagle Rock, Va., died Friday Dec. 16, 2011. at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem.
He was born Sept. 7, 1942, in Covington, a son of Virginia Vance Chesnut of Eagle Rock and the late Leonard Myles Chesnut.
Myles enjoyed farming with his father on their farm. He was retired from Westvaco.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Shirley Hosey Chesnut of Eagle Rock; three sons, Stephen Chesnut and wife, Sheila, of Buchanan, Darren Chesnut and wife, Cathy, of Stuarts Draft, and Chad Chesnut of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Kelly Chesnut Carter and husband, James, of Staunton; two sisters, Helen Hale and husband, Sydney, of Salem and Brenda Lugar and husband, Charles, of Covington; six grandchildren, Shannon Chesnut Maggi and husband, Dennis, of Salem, Gregory Chesnut and wife, Kyndall, of Eagle Rock, Bethany Chesnut of Buchanan, Madison Chesnut of Stuarts Draft, Ashtyn Chesnut of Stuarts Draft, and Jessica Snead of Lexington; a great-grandson, Daniel Maggi; a stepdaughter, Faye O’Conner and husband, Morris, of Covington; a stepson, David Helmintoller and wife, Margaret, of Covington; three stepgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Locust Bottom Cemetery in Glen Wilton, with Pastor Bill Dillon officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
Active pallbearers will be; Greg Chesnut, Dennis Maggi, Tony Williams, Morris O’Conner, David Helmintoller, and Thomas O’Conner.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
