WARM SPRINGS – The Bath County Public Library will begin its annual Summer Reading program, “Reading is Delicious,” on Monday at 10 a.m. with an opening presentation by Mauricio Salguero.
As a singer and songwriter, Mauricio presents an interactive children’s program that blends early music education with learning about Latino culture.
Children sing, shake and sound out rhythms while trying Latin dances and practicing Spanish words. This is an excellent enrichment opportunity.
This year’s theme will explore the food pyramid with weekly presentations such as I’m Starving for Yummy Books, Chomp on a Good Book, Reading is a Piece of Cake, Gobble Up a Tasty Book and Gulp Down a Good Book.
Each program will feature several books and activities that pertains to the theme for the week.
It is recommended that a parent or guardian accompany preschoolers and primary children. There may be minimal cutting and pasting to do for their crafts.
Junior programs which are designed for student’s grades 4-7 will be held on Wednesdays at 1:30 pm.
Preschool programs are suitable for ages 2-5 and will be held on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. while primary programs are recommended for grades K- 3. They will be held at 1:30 each Thursday.
Wednesday programs begin on June 20 and Thursdays on the 21st.
Each child will receive a free book (while supplies last) when they register for the summer reading program. So register early since books are given on a first come, first serve basis.
