The streets of Covington presented a very lively appearance today with great crowds of busy shoppers going to and fro, in a happy manner. There were hundreds of out-of-town shoppers noted among the throng.
R.L. Woodrum underwent a second operation at the C&O Hospital today. His condition is reported favorable.

Today’s Headline: Chamber Forms Committee To Realize Gathright Dam.
An area-wide effort to promote the early construction of Gathright Dam is being launched by the Covington Chamber of Commerce. This move has been in preparation for several months.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Hodge were in Clifton Forge Tuesday. Mr. Hodges went for a check-up at the C&O Hospital.

Today’s Headline: City Manager Leaving For New Position With Danville.
Covington City Manager Richard Flora announced his resignation effective May 9 to assume the position of director of community development and engineering for the city of Danville.
The opening of Amerind Gallery, owned by Joe and Louise Anderson of Clifton Forge, is scheduled for Saturday, April 5.

Today’s Headline: Talent 2006 To Be Held Friday At AHS At 7 p.m.
4-H Talent 2006 will be held Friday at Hodnett Hall in Alleghany High School beginning at 7 p.m. The show will feature youths nine to 18 years of age who have worked with director Donna Beirne to develop skills in performing.
The Announcers will hold its 18th Easter Eve concert Saturday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in Hodnett Hall at Alleghany High School.
