Today’s Headline: Jailed For Threat To Kill Anyone On Disputed Land.
A warrant sworn out this morning by John E. Alexander against Freeland Smith has lead to the arrest and jailing of Smith on a charge of threatening to kill.
Smith and Alexander are reported to have had a dispute over the boundary line of their adjoining properties.
Smith is alleged to have threatened to kill Alexander or any member of the Alexander Land and Timber Company Inc., the sheriff or any other officer of the law or any person found on the land in dispute.

Today’s Headline: C&O Nurses Graduating Festivities.
The annual banquet for the graduating class of the C&O Hospital School of Nursing will be held at 6:45 at the hospital dining room. The students will graduate at 8 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. A.C. Folks of Oak Street will enter the University Hospital, Charlottesville, Sunday, where she will undergo surgery.

Today’s Headline: Burks Found Little Personal Accomplishment On Council.
Commenting last night on his four years as a member of Covington City Council, Jerry Burks said he didn’t feel his term had proved to be much of a “personal accomplishment.”
Tuesday’s meeting was Burks’ last as a member of city council. Councilman Ray Bennington, who also elected not to seek another term, was absent from the meeting. They will be replaced in July by Robert Kelley and Paul Flint, who were elected in May.
