A fine spirit developed when the Democratic Country Committee met last night in the courthouse in the matter of the Jefferson Day dinner next Monday night in the parish house of Emmanuel Church.
Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Phadt have returned to their home on Monroe Street in Covington from a stay of several weeks in Huntington, W.Va.

Today’s Headline: School Building Program Discussed.
A request by residents of Highland Street living one mile or more from Jeter School that the Covington School Board provide bus transportation to the school for their children was presented on behalf of a delegation from the area by board member Norwood Tingler at last night’s city school board meeting.
Approximately 100 enthusiastic male residents interested in organizing a volunteer fire department in tthe Falling Spring area met at the school house for a called meeting.

The elimination of parking meters in the downtown area, non-fluorinated watyer in the city and the issue of a two-way Ridgeway Street were areas addressed in a recent survey conducted by the Clifton Forge Junior Woman’s Club.
Israel Boone of 817 1/2 N. Alleghany Avenue was honored on his sixth birthday March 23 with a party at McDonald’s restaurant. Included in the guests was Israel’s one-year-old sister Megan.

Today’s Headline: AARL Official Visits Covington Radio Club.
A ranking official with the American Radio Relay League told members of the Mountaineer Amateur Radio Emergency Sevice Monday night that with the upcoming active hurricane season ahead, it will be necessary to have trained ARES members ready and standing by if needed.
Clifton Forge Little League is hosting a Little League District 12 approved umpire clinic on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Linden Park.
