DEAR AUNT MARY,
I am in hopes you will print my letter and get citizens to really think about what a common and possibly unlawful event Clifton Forge has planned for July 7.
The best thing they can come up with for our community is what they call even in your newspaper a beer party to be held downtown.
Not only is it still illegal to be seen drinking in public, but what stops me from buying three beers and having a friend go buy me three more? Are they trying to find a way to help the local police write more tickets for drinking and driving?
This within a Christian community is the most common thing my neighbors and I have ever heard of.
We have a neighboring state that many tell jokes about.
But this state has never done such an unlawful thing as a beer party.
Come on now, Clifton Forge, can you really stoop this low?
And town council votes it in without question.
SINCERELY,
FOLLOWER OF THE LAW
DEAR LAW FOLLOWER,
Clifton Forge Town Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Clifton Forge Fire Department.
Council has a public comment segment on its meeting agenda.
I suggest you attend the meeting and voice your opinion on the issue you raise.
AUNT MARY
The Shadow
