CLIFTON FORGE - Martha Ellen Malone Crackel, 89, of 819 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1921, in Mattoon, Ill., to the late William M. and Gladys Sheeks Malone.
Mrs. Crackel was a homemaker throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. George E. Crackel in 2004; a sister, Betty Houpt; and two brothers, Lester Malone and Robert “Bob” Malone.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Crackel, and his wife, Renee of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren, Ryan Crackel of Reston and Erin Crackel of New York, N.Y.; two sisters, Dorothy Ann Wallace and Nancy Malone, both of Mattoon, Ill.; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Malone of Mattoon, Ill., and Gene Lee Malone of Chicago, Ill.; and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece Leellyn Wallace of Mattoon, Ill.
In keeping with Mrs. Cracker’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in her hometown of Mattoon, Ill. at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
