Today’s Headline: Frank Wheeler Re-Elected To Third Successive Term As Mayor Of Clifton Forge.
Polling nearly twice as many votes as both of his opponents, Frank H. Wheeler was re-elected yesterday to his third successive term as mayor of the city of Clifton Forge.
The total vote for Mr. Wheeler in the three wards was 859, as compared with 412 for J.H. Barger, the runner up and 82 for C.H. McKinney, the third candidate.
The Fourth of July committee at the Westvaco Club has already begun preparations for the annual celebration of that day.

Today’s Headline: 3,000 Eligible To Vote In Covington.
City Registrar A.J. Tingler said today that 3,000 residents of Covington have registered and have paid their poll taxes to become eligible to vote in Tuesday’s municipal election. He added that 65 persons applied for absentee ballots.
Covington police and W.E. Bosserman Jr. apprehended two juveniles on Highland Avenue at 11:35 a.m. Friday shortly after they had allegedly stolen four pairs of socks, some underwear and a sailor’s cap from the Kroger store on Maple Avenue.

Today’s Headline: Teacher Salary Increase Remains Intact In Covington.
Teacher salary increases remained intact after Covington City Council’s first reading on the proposed fiscal year 1986-87 budget last week, Superintendent Dr. Jerry Webb told the school board Monday night.
Repair work on the Keswick Street bypass in Clifton Forge continues and last night during city council’s regular monthly meeting, City Manager Roger Baker reported the work may be completed by mid-July.

Today’s Headline: Expanded Sewer Plant To Accept Runoff.
Alleghany County’s wastewater treatment plant in Low Moor is being expanded to treat polluted runoff from the Kim-Stan Landfill.
The wastewater treatment plan expansion is part of the first phase of a federal Environmental Protection Agency effort to clean up the landfill, which closed 16 years ago under a court order.
