The Rev Carlos Dawson, of Barstow, Calif., served at the President’s Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. February 1-3.
The President’s Prayer Breakfast began in 1953 with President Dwight D. Eisenhower and has continued annually.
Each president as spoken at each breakfast, and past speakers include Mother Teresa and Bono, lead singer of the Irish rock band U2.
While working with the domestic and international relations desks, the Rev. Dawson met people from all over the world.
He heard speakers which included President Barack Obama, film writer Randall Wallace (Braveheart, Pearl Harbor) and Chilean miner Jose Henriquez.
The Rev. Dawson was one of 400 volunteers from around the country.
He is a 1995 graduate of Alleghany High School and is the son of Freddie and Laurie Dawson of Clifton Forge.
